Rate & Date ("we", "us", "our") is a dating app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.
1. Information We Collect
Account & identity
- Phone number — used for one-time password (OTP) login
- Google account name and email — if you sign in with Google
- Apple ID — if you sign in with Apple (iOS only)
Profile information
- Display name, date of birth, gender, and bio
- Profile photos you upload
- Dating preferences (age range, gender preference)
Location
- Approximate location (city/region level) to show you nearby users. Exact GPS coordinates are not stored.
Usage & messages
- Messages you send to matches
- Swipe activity (likes/passes) for match logic
Device & advertising
- Advertising ID (IDFA / GAID) — used by Google AdMob to serve ads. You may opt out via your device's privacy settings.
- Push notification token — to deliver match and message notifications
2. How We Use Your Data
- Authenticate your account and verify your identity
- Show your profile to potential matches
- Enable real-time chat between matched users
- Moderate photos and messages for prohibited content
- Display ads via Google AdMob
- Process subscription payments via RevenueCat
- Send push notifications for matches and messages
3. Third-Party Services
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (servers in EU/US)
- Google AdMob — advertising. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management
- AWS Rekognition — automated photo moderation to detect explicit content
- Giphy — GIF search in chat
- Google / Apple — OAuth sign-in providers
- Expo — push notification delivery
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Age Requirement
Rate & Date is for users aged 18 and older. Age is verified at registration and enforced server-side. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account — and all associated data — from Settings → Delete Account inside the app. Alternatively, email us at support.ratendate@proton.me to request deletion.
6. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Photos are stored in access-controlled cloud storage. Sensitive operations are enforced server-side.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data. Contact us at support.ratendate@proton.me to exercise these rights.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
